Until the Motley Crew is out and tested that will be a hard question to answer.Steven Vaccaro

LOL too slow on the reply just repeated Steve's point!
For me.
A) the motley crew has a butt ugly paint job.
B)I don't want to be a guinea pig!
I believe AQ will do a proper job of this boat, not another Spartan fiasco, but that being said I really don't like being the first to own a new motorized vehicle. I prefer to wait and hear what other peoples experiences are.
The Geico is a known entity, you knew exactly what you are getting and how it will work, at this point thats about all anybody can say I think. Until the Crew is released to public and some people run the production version it's a guessing game.
Aquacraft is not new to boats so I really doubt there will be any serious problems with it, they work with racers in testing a development.
Right now any opinion will really be based on looks alone, far as I know nobody has a production version for comparison.
If it was me I'd buy the Geico only because it has been out for a while and has a known reputation. LOL then I could be kicking myself if the Motley is a way better boat!
I have a lot of faith in Aquacraft as a company that produces good products, but then again Traxxis has a good name (I guess, not really a serious car guy) in the car world but we all know about the Spartan.
Until both boat can be compared side by side and run against each other etc. kinda hard to make a real solid recommendation.
Would suck if everybody says buy the new one and it has some kind of problems.
It really comes down to where you feel comfortable spending your money, for me in this economy I'd go with a known entity, if things were booming and I was turning away work I'd just buy both!If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment

yer those are both good points and pretty much my exact thoughts lol thats how the geico is winnin me over only because its proven i dont mind the motley paint but i can get it resprayed but like u said husky id kick me self if it has an edge i dunno it jus looks a lil more user friendly but thats jus from wat i can gather.
And yer i was waitin for the spartan but obviously Aq has done more boats which helps but jus sayin not an expert opnion by far well i still got a while i was thinking of waitin and seeing a side by side comparison its hard when the boat bug is biting like crazy lol.
I know i wouldnt really be a huge risk buying a geico purely coz its proven i guess i could always get a motley afterwards but id prob go an upgraded esc and motor on the geico when im ready den a custom boat afterwards plus it will help me learn on set up it jus seems a bit from wat i read which just kinda daunting lol but i gotta learn sometime.
Anyways see wat happens if i go the geico what would be a few good things to do to keep it reliable and running good like i said when i see people hackin into it and truing up sponsons its worrying to a noob lol anyways u guys know ur stuff thanks for being patient.Comment

You can always sell or trade on the swap shop later...
For me, the only difference that I would care about is the hull material and both boats are fiberglass so that's a wash...

come to think of it despite my better judgement in goin wit a proven product and bein who i am a person who goes outside the norm n goes with there gut lol im gunna go with the motley as its ultimately what im gunna be more happy with and its more outhere and appeals to me lol.
Hopefully work would have picked up round the time its released and ill get it down under and do plenty of testing in our water conditions and let you all know then add some personal touches and mods not only that i look at it way more lol, anyways thanks for all the great posts and helpComment

One feature ProBoat has is the tupperware style hatch. For those with no desire to tape up its very easy to seal the Geico. but I do recommend a bit of tape on the rear of the outer hatch to snug it up a bit.Steven Vaccaro

We ran them together this past weekend. Mine was stock except for the prop.
The MG had a UL-1 motor and a Turnigy controller so it was far from stock,,,but still legal for LSO racing (as far as anyone can tell what the actual rules are).
Here are a few observations;
1) MC looks bigger than MG...but they are essentially the same size.
2) Speeds were pretty much identical.
3) MC seemed to be happier in the turns but it was pretty choppy so it could have been plain old luck.
4) Flipping the boats over on the tables showed the MC to have sharper edges on the riding surfaces than the MG.
5) The MG's sexually ambivilent lizard looks odd, but that neon green color shows up on the water like nothing else out there!
6) Fitting 4S2P configurations in the MC in no problem...the MG with the battery trays in place is a different story though....
7) I don't think you can go wrong with either boat.Grand River Marine Modellers

wow thanks doby and others it helps immensly but ill probably go the MC as its more to my taste though the MG is still pretty sweet and as i mentioned the MC seems slightly more user/noob friendly.
And ill probably get a cool vinyl wrap from jeff at some stage though i like the MC scheme so see what happens.
And like dana said the MC seems to have a slight edge over the geico.
As id say the case may bedevelopers of it seemed to learn from what was done with the geico and make changes but im no expert thats just what i get from it.
Any chance of a vid in the near future of the two running doby ?.
And thanks again for all the great posts and help its been invalubleComment
