    Stripped drive system on Spartan

I just got my 2 11.1v 6.5a 75c(150c) batteries from MaxAmps.com today, put them in my boat and took it to the lake.

I couldn't get over 5 mph. Turns out, even after everything was seriously tight... The flex cable was stripped smooth as a babies bottom. It would still turn the prop at low throttle, but open it up and you go nowhere.

I bought a new stock flex drive and collet from traxxas, I got it installed, tested it inside my house on the stand, and it stripped again. ON THE STAND.

Someone said I may have gotten grease on the cable where the collet meets. I didn't. I've even made it a point to take everything out of the boat and clean the in commercial degreaser before running it. And again for the replacements.

So I'll try one of the drive systems on OSE
I saw quite a few flex drive assemblies around OSE, which one is right for my Spartan?
I've got a prather 230 on the stock motor and esc but everything is super cooled, 2 transom pickups, 2-2 inlet under-the-hull pickups, and the stock water pickup with 4 water outlets. Someone joked with my about all the pickups causing tons of drag causing the torque from the motor to strip the drive.. whatever.

The only two places you can have slippage with a flex are at the collet and drive dog, provided that the prop shaft is attached to the flex solidly (solder or Loc-Tite; and it should come attached from Traxxas anyhow). If the collet is tight, what about the drive dog? Do you have any binding in the flex if you turn the prop by hand without the collet on the motor?

The only other issue I could think of is that the magnet on your rotor has come loose. I've had this happen before in a brushless buggy with a Feigao motor, so it's not all that far fetched, but still not something normal. It would exhibit very similar behavior as to what you're describing.

Luckily you didn't get things going with a P230; it's waaaaaaay too much prop for the tiny motor on 6S

Everything was tight, I didn't put locktight or solder on it..
There is no binding or anything, at all. I can feel the bump of the poles in the motor when rotating the prop, everything is and always was liberally lubed

There's nothing wrong with the motor, there appears to be too much torque. The flex cable stripped in the collet, nothing more.

Last night I took a pair of the bolt cutters to the end of the flex drive
        It's tight as #&$^ now.

I'm about to take it down to the lake, I'm fully prepared to bring it back to the shore with something blown up.
I've already got a cc1515/2.5D and hydra 240 in the mail on it's way

That is a special step down shaft. I have been making them and no issues. They are silver brazed. If you do want to stay with 6S I would suggest going with 187 cable and a new coupler.

Just got back in from my run, mangling up the flex cable with the bolt cutters made the cable stick in the collet like it was welded. Not sure how fast it went but the chine was intense at WOT.
No heat issues at all though, i've got a good cooling system.

Spilled it right after I checked heat, it got full of water, esc isn't responding now.

              Also, buy a new collet.

yeah, more than a minute or two and that stock 2 pole motor is going to fry
