    Timed event equipment

    Hello board,

I have been searching the net trying to find out what is being used for event timing (how I found this site).

Whats the standard? What type of equipment (hardware/software ) is being used?

What kind of "timing" do you mean? Oval lap times, heat times, SAW timing? Just exactly what are you looking for?

Fluid the gentleman in question has a scoring system. I believe he is looking for venues in witch to offer his services.

Currently IMPBA and NAMBA do not use automatic scoring systems. Most clubs don't seem to have the funds to purchase a system and a dedicated computer - or the site to use one....but IMO it is a great idea.

The greatest obstacle seems to be how to mount the receiving antenna - ponds aren't like parking lots. Many ponds are too deep to use a pole, that or the ponds are not dedicated for boats and a pole must be installed/removed each day. The size/weight of a transponder used to be an issue but is no longer. What do you have to offer?

The receiving antenna would have to be a fixed floating bridge. Either between two bouy's or a bouy and land. Maximum lenght the bridge could be is 30'.

What would be the minimum racing lane required? Also how low could I make this bridge without the chance of getting hit.

The rest of the equipment I have.... Well, except any specific software. The software I have is auto related.... but I'm sure it can handle the task.

Transponders are still the same size and weight as they used to be, with the exception of personals. This is something I think I would require. Its one thing to have a house TP come out and go skidding across a parking lot.... But to have come out or go down with a boat is a nother story lol.

In oerder to keep it from being struck directly it wouls have to be placed inside or on an intertube. I think a PVC pole sunk into the mud would be the best idea. Just leave it elevated a bit.

I like the idea of an innertube around the bouy, but its not an "antenna". It's a magnet loop that the boats would have to pass over "or" under.... with a maximum length of 30'. I am limited on how high I can go (the lower the better), but how low can I go without possibly being hit. (not concerned about the bridge, but a boat)

I had found a picture of a floating bridge while surfing, but I can't find it again..... so I'm going to "assume" somebody is allready using this system for boats stateside. Other thing was, there was no info on the club or the system....just showed the bridge.

Here's a couple pics of mine. One is cut in the floor and a bridge.
