It should be for less than a second. But it can seem like an eternity if you are close to something. There is an update that is said to address this.

      ESC saver feature?

It could well be that this is a safety feature designed to protect the ESC when a sudden "zero throttle" setting occurs. I have done some preliminary calculations and measurements that indicate a large current/watt surge can result from the transfer of the boat kinetic energy thru the prop when going from full throttle to zero throttle too quickly.

The calculation follows: (assumes 100% energy transfer efficiency to ESC)

      WATTS=328*WEIGHT/(DELTA TIME)*(HIGH SPEED/60)**2*ln((HIGH SPEED)/(LOW SPEED))

      boat WEIGHT in pounds
DELTA TIME in seconds between high speed and low speed (from GPS)
HIGH SPEED and LOW SPEED in mph
      ln is natural logarithm
      result is in watts

      Example:
      5 lb boat
      60 mph high speed
      30 mph low speed
.25 seconds delta time between high speed and low speed
      type in GOOGLE search box
      328*5/(.25)*(60/60)**2*ln((60)/(30))
      result in watts is:
      ((328 * 5) / .25) * ((60 / 60) ** 2) * ln(60 / 30) = 4,547.
initially at 60 mph, dropping quadratically to 1136 at 30 mph.

I will bet that this stirs up a hornet's nest!

          How was it programmed ?
The program card info can be downloaded for reference, sounds like you have some soft settings in there, I think a program card is only about $6.00 if you dont have one.

I programmed mine with the card and set for soft shutoff. I thought that was only for when the LVC kicks in? Mine has the same problem....runs on for a bit after letting off the throttle. I'll try using the hard cutoff. I don't have the USB connector for the esc so downloading an update isn't going to help me.

Interesting. Same settings I'm using and it has the run-on problem when going to low throttle.

I'm running this V2 Swordfish 200 software (3-7-2011) and it still tends to run-on for about 1/2 second...not sure if it's fixed...

FWIW, the last 4 digits of this firmware are 2000; the previous version was 200L.
BTW, this latest version seems to also have a throttle delay of about 1/2 to 3/4 sec. when you chop the throttle.
