              That was a tough one to pull off. Seal Team 6 must be soaring with the eagles right now. Killing the worlds most sought after terrorist. Gotta be one proud bunch! I bet the world would love to buy them a round from now until eternity.

              And their entry! Their helo stalled on approach as rotor lift was deminished due to the high walls surrounding the compound. I bet that was interesting to drop out of the sky. The adrenaline must have been waist deep. Great Job to all participants. The world owes a debt to these brave men.

                  The group that went in after him were definetly an elite and unbelievable group of men who deserve great praise. However, the interesting thing is it was not only Navy Seals that went in it was also Delta Force, a group of elite soliders from the Army special forces but can come from any branch. They are the absolute best at what they do and prefer to be under the public radar. They are truely the best of the best, as demonstrated in successful mission with no US casualties reported.

                  My at goes off to these brave men who give all and ask for nothing.

                        Actually Seal Team 6 no longer exists - they are DEVGRU. They are based here in Virginia Beach at Dam Neck.

                            What about building a squadron of autonomous (spelling?) planes or boats, built to make mistakes occasionally, not trying to make mistakes, but "accidentaly" crashing into the yard of a suspicious house/area, and seeing what happens, the cameras obviously being hidden as servo's (built into the servos, somehow.) I'm sure they would pay us alot to do this for them, and we would get to build it

                              That is 100% true. A little history for those not informed;

                              The Development Group is active in both the Global War on Terror and the Iraq War. DEVGRU has worked closely with the U.S. Army's Delta and civilian government agencies in special task forces (TF) to kill or capture the leaders of terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda, the Taliban and insurgent groups in Iraq and Afghanistan. One such task force known as TF 145, TF 6-26 and TF 121 have conducted controversial operations in Iraq that led to the capture of the late Saddam Hussein and the death of the leader of Al-Qaeda in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

                              In Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) U.S. Special Operations forces have led the fighting. During the crucial Battle of Takur Ghar Navy SEALs from DEVGRU participated in one of the most violent battles of Operation Anaconda. Late at night on March 2 2002 a MH-47 Chinook helicopter piloted by the 160th SOAR was carrying a team of Navy SEALs over the mountain of Takur Ghar. As the helicopter was nearing its landing zone both the pilots and the men in the back observed fresh tracks in the snow, goatskins, and other signs of recent human activity. Immediately, the pilots and team discussed a mission abort, but it was too late. An RPG struck the side of the aircraft, wounding one crewman, while machinegun bullets ripped through the fuselage, cutting hydraulic and oil lines. Fluid spewed about the ramp area of the helicopter. The pilot struggled to get the helicopter off the landing zone and away from the enemy fire. Neil C. Roberts, a SEAL DEVGRU operator, was poised to exit the ramp when the aircraft was hit and slipped on the oil as the helicopter took off. He was thrown from the helicopter dropping about 5 to 10 feet to the snowy ground below. Roberts immediately engaged overwhelming Al-Qaeda forces with his M249 SAW. He survived at least 30 minutes before he was shot and killed at close range. Roberts was the first Navy SEAL to die in Afghanistan, and the first to die in combat since 1989.

                              But current DEVGRU is not comprised of Seals alone. They are a team of Army, Airforce and Marines. Thats something Seals do not welcome with open arms since each branch has its own set of proficiencies for their members. Seals are second to none. Their motto, second place is first loser embraces their mentality.

                              After Marcinko ran them amok in the 80's SOCOM had no option but to cater to political opinion. Now if you are/were a Submariner you probably know of another Seal Team . Way beyond DEVGRU. Far more mysterious and clandestine. My reference to ST6 was because of their similarities as a maritime counter-terrorism unit. Old habits.
