    programming a T180

my df29 is finally finished.. stoked... plan on running a RX pack so my limited understanding tells me i need to disconnect the red wire from the ESC... my question is about the initial programming of the T180.. do i need to disconnect the red wire BEFORE i program the ESC or after the fact...

    any help would be appreciated...

suggestions for timing also would be cool... T180 / CC neu 1518 1y... i was thinking 15 deg... am i in the right ball park ??... was considering running a 42 x55 grim prop i have...

    cheers

If you disconnect the bec before programming you will need to run a rx pack to the programming box to power the programmer here's where people mess up you STILL need to plug the esc in to your lipos and use the rx pack. The rx pack will only program the box, the esc still needs power. So you can program with or without the bec en-abled.

15* for that motor is good IMO...

Programing without the red wire will require a battery pack of a BEC to power the program box through the second port, on the left. Ether before or after, it doesn't matter. Stock setting is 15* so you should be ready to rock with that setting.

Also, make sure to set it for your desired voltage. Don't use "auto select". I and may others have had issues with LVC not kicking in or kicking in too soon. I run my LVC at 3.0v/cell and they come in at 3.4-3.6 every time and take back close to the max MAH of the pack.

Good catch bud, forgot about that. Auto works like CRAP... Only difference is I use 3.2v

i would program/calibrate before removing the red wire, or better yet DONT remove the red wire, simply just add a short extension and cut the red wire out of that so your esc wires stay together.

Timing for that motor should be 15

The biggest mistake a lot of people make with these ESC's is not programming the Throttle Range FIRST. See step #2 of the instructions.
Note. It must be done with the Transmitter, that's why most people who use the card to programme the ESC miss it.
Also take note of the three cases where you will need to program or reprogram the Throttle Range (top of page 1 of the instructions.)
                  Cheers.

Timing from the factory is at 15. I have also heard of issues with the lvc on this speedo.

I had to set my throttle epa to 0 for the brakes before my tx worked well with my t120.

before that i would pull the trigger half way before i got any throttle.

Not sure if you are supposed to go full reverse after you plug it in with trigger at wot position but i was only going to neutral after the first initial beeps.

I have had this esc for a while now ,and running a RX pack as recommended , but I use the auto lipo select. Never had an issue, so I wonder why is it not recomended to be used.?

I have 4x 2s lipo's and 2x 3s lipos, so I normaly make 3 runs, one with 4s settup and 2 with 5s settup, hench the auto select.
I will get a short extension and cut the red wire out of that, so that the esc wires stay together, makes it fast to re program on the spot.
