    Sealing transom holes

    Hey all,

Quick question as I'm making progress on my first build/first boat. I have everything mounted and am almost ready for painting, what's the best stuff to use to seal the holes that mount the strut and rudder? I certainly don't wanna make it permanent and use epoxy (eh, that might work) or JB weld. Thanks!

P.S. out off all things I cut my flex cable too short being distracted by my crazy puppy. I did sooo well centering, aligning, and epoxyming the motor mount, stuffing tube, hardware, etc. Oh well, just need to order a new one.

Will take pics when it's done or before paint.

If u r referring to re assembly of the boat and the sealing of holes I use silicone. I put the screw through, pull it back a bit and put the silicone on the shank of the screw then push it back through and tighten.

Sealing screws not only helps with waterproofing but it also prolongs the life of the transom wood. If u don't the transom wood will rot out sooner than u would think. That makes for big issues to repair.

Silicone Grease (used to waterproof automotive electrical connections) also works to keep water from migrating through bolt mounting holes.
