Brushed Motor Question

Ok guys need some help. My brushed motor knowledge is pathetic to say the least. Wanting a new motor for my little Apache 24 rescue boat, which currently runs on the stock motor and stock prop with a 6cell nimh. I am looking at the motor and I can't find how many turns the stock motor is. I want something with more torque that I can swing a larger prop with and maybe use the 6cell or a 7cell nimh...

I was looking at this http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXWYE2&P=0 to run with a either the 6 or 7 cell, but it maybe the same number of turns as the stock motor. Pretty clueless on where to go seeing I don't know the stock specs.

I did a quick search on the Apache 24, & it has a 550 sized motor. No luck on what wind that motor is, though.

The motor you’re looking at from Tower is a 540 sized motor, which is shorter than a 550. Also, at 35 turns, it’s a low RPM motor, but has good torque.
Tower carries this 550 motor, Traxxas Titan 550 Motor 12T Stampede/Rustler, rated at 7.2 volts, but I ain’t got a clue if it’ll provide any more performance than the stock Apache motor that you already have.

They also carry higher wind Traxxas motors (21 & 23 turns - rated for 14.4 volts) that will work on 7.2 or 8.4 volts to turn a larger prop at lower RPM's.

Well with the cars a stock motor was generally a 23turn motor. the emaxx 14volt motors are great for boats as I have ran them on 6cells, they also have the torque ring to add torque.

the 35 turn is lower rpm but should be higher in torque than the stock which for a rescue boat your not looking for speed just power to push. Should work ok. The 12 turn traxxas motors run very hot in the cars so I believe the boat app would burn them up with too high of rpms and amp draw. I might have a titan 23 turn laying around if you want one to try out diesel I'll send it for the cost of shipping if you want to test it.

I threw this in one of my custom Jeep builds cuz it had large tires and minimal gearing options. It is NOT 550 sized as said in the specs, its 540, but has some serious torque, should be great on 6-7 cells in your application. Cant beat the $$ either.

The Traxxas Titan 23T motors are very torquey, and should work well on 7 cells, they are 550's and rated to 14 cells, they are around 1700 kv from what i remember.

I have some Johnson type fan cooled motors, they are 2 1/4" long. Can send you 1 for $5 shipped LMK Larry

See if you can find and old Speed Gems 17 Turn motor for the boat, I ran these motors for sport for 8 years, turned the comm once a year and new brushes, worked great! good speed and torque for a mild motor. water cool the can and brushes.
P.s. if you use a Traxxas 12 turn, you will burn it up and the Speed controller, do not do it!

Not worried about speed, just reliability it's my rescue boat, so I don't care how long it takes the boat to be rescued as long as it gets rescued lol... I have a Titan 12T laying around. Don't want to use it for this application though.

Sweet, that's the motor I was looking at. Great price and should do the job great... I think i will grab one.
