    Best RTR 32" (ish) CAT

I have looked at buying a RC boat, but do not want to start off with building one, rather buying a ready to run brushless model around 32".

I have looked at Miss Geico, King of Shaves C1, Genesis Offshore and Apparition Cat , but it seems that someone always has something bad to say about all of them. Does anyone have advice on witch one would be the best choice given that I want speed and a good driving experience out of the box, but also having the flexibility to do modification later to get more speed out of it.

Any thought on this or other suggestions?

That is the result of living in the un-ideal world.

I recommend the miss geico no comparison. she turns great, has very satisfying speeds out of the box and can handle upgrades, however most/all RTRs are set up to go the speeds they were designed. I would shoot more for good running out of the box and establish a good relationship with FE boating, then get a bare hull capable of the speeds you are after.

You might want to wait for twins - twice if not more the potential for problems (I have a not so reliable feeling about this one too), although I have never owned one.

I would focus on a nice sturdy platform to get your feet wet (get it?).

Oh, yeah - Welcome to the forum!!

I agree a ms geico will get you there and once your ready to move up put some upgrades that can go in a bigger hull once your driving and desire for speed go up Then you will have the electrics to go in a custom build once you want to race or really burn up the water I have an apparition and while extremely fast it spends alot of time on her back

If youre buying RTR the Miss G is a good choice, Aquacraft is also releasing a RTR cat that I would imagine will be competitive with the the Miss G.

Miss Gieco if you are buying now --- i understand the Motley Crew Cat will be released soon ... but I haven't seen actual date. Not that the date is to be believed anyway.!

Rummy's building a cat for sale. That would be a cool way to get a good RTR.

Does anyone know what speeds to expect from M Geico and AQ Motley Crew "out of the box" (w 2x 2s Lipos)?

mid to upper 40s depending on water conditions and what prop you end up using.

I'd say that's a bit high for stock electrics. MG motor will push it to mid-upper 40's no problem but I doubt the ESC will make it. I've got my MG going 40 reliably(only a new prop) and I'm very happy. Out of the box MG is mid 30's.

One other question, when it comes to motors and ESCs on MG and Motley Crew:

Geico: A3630-1500Kv Water-Cooled Brushless + programmable 45 amp water-cooled ESC with Deans connector

Motley Crew: AquaCraft water-cooled 6-pole 1800kV brushless motor + AquaCraft 60amp Motor Controller (ESC)

Is there any way of understanding which of these motors is the strongest based on these specs?
And is it anything else except high Amp to look for in an EPS?

Have you programmed your esc for high timing? on 4S you can get away with it and I have never blown one of these ESCs on 4S. Maybe upper 40s was a bit optimistic, but you can do a lot with center of balance and truing the hull and not least what batteries you are using to get yourself into the 40s.

Just a note about the Proboat set up: Very solid. these ESCs are way under-rated and can take a LOT of abuse. Sure I have burnt a few, but was really pushing the limits (all smokers were on 6S and high timing). Other than that, I have had a lot of good luck on this ESC. I am much less familiar with the Aquacraft set up.

yup, I'm on high timing. been a while since I've done a full TnT session though. I hit 40 and was happy with that so I've just been enjoying driving it lately. maybe I'll go for a TnT session again sometime soon and see if I can get any more out of her. but right now temps are around 100 for everything after a long run, so I'm not sure if I want to push things any harder.

Both are good 6-pole motors. The 1800 Kv motor is slightly "stronger", meaning it will probably give higher top speeds with a smaller prop. The prototype Motley Crew I tested last year had the 1800 Kv motor and with a prop change (m445) it ran upper 40s without stress on the 60 amp controller.
