    bby om29 dial in

bby om 29, 9xl 12 cells x642 , i finally got it wet to day still need a few thing like turnfins and water cooling.

so i ran the boat with about 30% cog up from the transom and it wanted to hop out of the water so i moved the batts a little more foward and it helped a little, so do i just keep moving the batt foward until it rides level or throw trim tabs on it

also it was rocking back and side to side my 0m26 did the same thing and i put trim tabs on it and stopped it but is there another way to eliminate this

Have you tried to raise the strut up a little at a time until the hull sets down a bit?

That's a fairly common trait for the deeper "V" hulls. BBY hulls fit in this group IMO.

Easy way: install tabs and/or play with strut adjustment.

Harder way: Blueprint the hull. Use a straight edge and make sure that the running surface of the hull is dead flat. Including the keel. Fill in any low spots or hooks. Sand perfectly smooth. Repaint. Continue to tune with COG adjustments and prop tuning. You may still need tabs, but at a greatly reduced setting.

If you have the time and skill, going the "hard" way will more than pay off for you in the end. Your knowledge for boat tuning will be greatly enhanced.

i run fdm turbo struts i cant adjust the depth, i really wanted to use fullers hardware but had this laying around, i will start by moving the batts foward till it settles down and see how that goes

          thanks

ran it today alot better moving the batts foward , the boat does well in the chop, still swapping side to side so i have to get trim tabs

Steve, had the same problem with both the DF 33" and the Titan 29 [ same 9XL ].
Remodeled the interior of the DF by moving the motor way back to keep batts on the keel centerline instead of outside the rails. Put larger tabs [Speedmaster SP 200's ] on the back and wobbling GONE ! The Titan with a much deeper V [like the OM 26 & 29] had such bad chine wobble that I was ready to scrap her. I raised the stinger higher up the transom 1/8 " and no improvement. I just packed @ 3 oz. of lead bb's in a long plastic bag wrapped in tape; placed it on the keel centerline midway front-to-rear; and Bingo ! Waaaay better. Seems that really deep Vee's at terminal speeds come out of the water so high that they just travel on the very last of the V and wobble. The extra weight and wetter planing surface may scrub some speed, but I now have a raceboat [ P-Offshore] ready to rock again.
Just an aside, last Feb at WW III in Arizona I discussed this chine wobble thing with a racer running a BBY Patriot ; very similar to the OM 29. His Patriot wobble-danced down the straightaways & he said he just lives with it; he won more races with that boat than any others. My OM 26 running 12 nimh's is the truest running best handling boat I've ever seen but when I put some lipos in it it's likely to need a little weight to keep her glued. Don't give up, once dialed you'll out- corner any boat on the water !!

the water was smokin today, had a good set of batteries its the fastest i've seen it run yet, still need the tabs and fins but man its got potential, for sure near 40's

with the good comes the bad, my charger stopped working and i have a pack with two bad cells, so i got 3 packs and no means to charge them
