    Improve your handling mean machine

If you want to improve your handling of your mean machine Changing the rudder makes a BIB BIG difference, I am no longer spinning out in the turns not sure what blade I put on there, but I am sure a speed master rudder will work the rudder lenght from the bottom of the mounting bracket is 4 " Putting this type of rudder on improved my handling 100% Good luck and let me know your results Chris

Right on Chris. Many of us found that out the hard way with the Mean Machine - a longer rudder also helps with the narrow German cats. The small SpeedMaster mini rudder is too small. I substituted a 21 rudder and cut off 3/4". Huge difference.

Cool. Thanks for the post. I am in the process of setting one up and was wondering about the handling. Think I'll try a 115mm tapered Genesis rudder.

I'm not sure what rudder it comes with, I bought mine used and it had what looked like a Chinese 95mm rudder on it and it handled very poorly, I changed it for a Chinese 130mm and it handles well now.

Mo power, mo boat out of the water, therefore need longer, stronger rudder.

I've learned to size rudders by what H&M's suggested hardware shows for a given hull and since many chinese hull are H&M/German knock-off's....

They go pretty big for a 36" hull. I know, MM is about 30".

I'm not sure since I bought mine bare hull and built it. If it were me, I'd go ahead and get the mounting bracket and rudder.

I just drilled the stock rudder mount and bolted up a 115mm wedge from an old Apparition.

                              We'll see how it works!
