    Temperature Questions

Tonight when I was running the boat I noticed some differences in my temps than what I have seen before. My battereis were staying in the 105-117 range, but I say my motor temp up over 150 and the esc over 170, while running the same prop (642) that I have been running. I did notice my first time out that the motor didn't seem to want to spool up, but the more I ran it the better it was. By my last pass the boat ran 48.9. I have been trying some different drive angles. Before my last pass I did notice that the retaining ring on the top of the drive was gone, so the prop was a bit deeper in the water than normal. So I taped it up enough to get back to the normal posistion.

If my motor has had some water get in it, what should I do to protect it after the runs.

I am not sure how much water has been through it, but I am sure some has due to the number of times the boat has been upside down.

The 48.9 run is the fastest pass with the turnfins installed. I cut them down a bit and sharpened them some.

Do you lube the drive line after each day of running and check it for binding before each run??

    which motor are you using?

We really don't have enough information - what boat, what motor, what prop, what cells? If the motor has been flooded, then the bearings are probably shot - rusted. That would explain the high motor and ESC temperatures.

If the motor has been over 150F then the magnets are probably damaged. That causes poor efficiency and results in a rise in motor and ESC temperatures. I toasted several ESCs with a motor with bad magnets before I understood what was happening. If it is a Chinese motor then it is best to just toss it and buy a new one.

Yes I grease the driveline after everyrun. I finally figured out yesterday, how the water was coming in. If I trim the drive out, water will go up the shaft. If it is tucked in, the boat stays dry.

Fluid, the boat is a Black Jack 26 with a hydra 120 and an ammo 36-50-2300. I am running trinnity 6cell 4200 battery packs that I changed to a side by side setup.

I don't think the motor has been submerged, but it has def. has water on it. I am thinking that the bearings are pretty pissed, thats why on my first run yesterday the boat was very slow, and then as I ran it, it picked up speed and was running normal.

I put a bit of wd40 on the bearings last night on the motor to see if that makes a difference when I run it again.
