I think those ESCs are great for the money, you just need a HV esc if you want to run HV. We sort of knew this going in but chose to test the limits.Comment

man that looks nasty. How do you like that LIFE cell? it is 6.6 v so i was weary to hook it up to my rx's. i ordered up 2 of them though. One of them is powering my stock Miss Geico Tx with no problems.
Ive been sticking with 4s power so i have been using my esc's bec. Just wondering if your rx is rated for more then 6v or if i'll be fine using it with an mr3000Comment

That really stinks! In more ways than one! I read somewhere that hand sanitizer stuff will remove some of the stink, I have my doubts though, it really penetrates everything.
My ni-cad charger still stinks 4 years after I had to rebuild it.
Did everything else come out ok? Hope it's just mis-coloured and stinky! If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment

Thanks for the suggestions guys. For the record, I have used the following on this boat AND in the past on other boat (most of my learning was done on the little black spots created when dunking an esc, ect...not this type of catastrophe).:
* Dish soap: VERY good for cleaning dishes...thats about it. No use here.
* Household cleaners (Forula 409, ect): Again, didn't do much
* Rubbing alcohol: Works somewhat, but doesnt completely remove the black...definitely lightens it.
...and the odd winner so far....
*Rain X: Works phenominally. I have already used it on my batts, motor, servo, rx pack, ect and have that stuff cleaned up. It still does retain smell though...going to try an ozone chamber for that.
...I removed everything from the bare hull (other than the strut and rudder) and cleaned all the parts with rain x. It really does magically wipe the black off, but I swear you can never remove that smell.Even my motor still stinks, but I havent taken it apart adn cleaned the inside. I think the soot gets on the inside of everything in this larger sized mess, like the the inside/underneath of my lipo shrink wrap, the fibers of the glass and carbon, ect.
Unfortunately, teh esc got so hot that it damaged the underside of the hatch (and burnt the paint off of the outside), and the top side of the hull towards teh front of the hatch. It got hot enough that it warped the fiberglass to the point of cracking it in one spot. When we get some decent weather here (and I have time), I will further assess the situation. It was upper 30's when I attempted to clean it last, and my paws got coldComment

Man that sucks!! But nothing some simple green shouldn't be able to take care of. The smell on the other hand, well....Just stick a few pine tree air fresheners in there, lol!
