    Spec motors

I'm trying to get my boats ready for both our MMEU season and particularly The Nats.
It would be nice to look in the NAMBA rule book on the Web but that hasn't been updated
in years. What are the spec motors for LSO, LSH, spec hydro, Cracker box and 1/10th scale. Are the all the same or are there some differences. Also, has there been any agreement on the overall rules of C Box, ie, strut and prop placement?

    Thanks, Tom

New FE rules are being voted on as we post. They are outlined here ( http://www.namba.com/content/default.asp ) but if you are a NAMBA member you should have received your ballot in the mail.

As for your question, the proposed motors are:
    Aquacraft
    AQUG7000 old SV27
    AQUG7001 UL-1
    AQUG7002 New SV27/Motley Crew

    HiMax
    HB3630

    ProBoat
    PBR3310 BJ26
    PRB4017 Stiletto

Rebadged motors and new updates may be allowed. Regardless, the race flyer will list the approved motors.

1/10th Crackerbox class has been well defied for over a decade. Non-official classes are up to the event host to define, no one else.

Great question, I also wonder if a spec motor can be from a rtr boat from china or hobbycity? Why do they just list blackjack, sv, svr, and stiletto motor?

Tom the new NAMBA FE spec proposal will address these issues if its passed.
As for the accepted legal spec motors at this point in time they are the Hi Max 3630-1500, The Black Jack 26, SV-27 (Blue Can) and the UL-1. (there are others in the new proposal but that has not passed as of yet.)

As For 1/6 Crackerbox and 1/10 scalers The Legal motors are The Himax 3630-1500, BlackJack 26 and The Blue AQ SV-27.

Not sure whats legal MMEU as you know clubs can do what they want.

IMO the spec class motors I have listed should also be the legal motors at the nats as there has been no other information or flyers posted that differ from those. Any other motor allowances should have been addressed and information gotten out long ago and it has not changed. If other motors were allowed to be ran that would clearly open the door for protests IMO.

As for the 1/6 Crackerbox question here is a loose agreement,We have been running them for a while and still have a couple of things to try in the driveline area before we shoot off the final proposal. That will be very soon. Not sure what the ruling will be at the nats, thats the CDs call. One thing that will be disallowed in the proposal we will be submitting is any transome mounted struts. Where we are heading and a set up that works well but still creates a Crackerbox is: The strut must be under the hull, a Very slight "J" bend of the stuffing Tube where it exits the Hull bottom, or a straigtht stuffing tube (Builders Choice). Any type of drive shaft may be used, the prop may extend past the transome but any part of a readily available over the counter drive dog must be under the transome. No part of the prop may extend above or be higher then the transome bottom at the keel line. This set up works very well but maintains some of the characteristics of Crackerboxes.
