    Dewalt power

Any thoughts on dewalt power. Dewalt motors are being used pretty successfully in other forms of rc. From what I read, they can take a beating and deliver tons of torque and when set up properly can deliver surprising speed. Any thoughts and suggestions welcomed.

I wouldn't bother, brushed technology is pretty much dead in high performance boating, probably be a great motor for something scale and big.
Would have to be geared to turn any prop speed, once again thats pretty old technology.
Brushless motors can put out the torque and rpm required for direct drive.
I wouldn't be into electric boats if I still had to use brushed technology, I hated the maintenance involved in brushed cars, turning the commutator, replacing brushes and springs....
Especially now that their are some great deals on good quality brushless motors and the price of esc's has dropped to under 100$ for a 200 amp quality esc.
I'd take a look at Tacon motors and a swordfish esc.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Good info. Thanks. Any suggestions on motor size for a 44" mono with 5" stringers. Boat is rigged for zenoah, QuickDraw ect. Trying to stay away from another gas mono. Just want to try fast electric power. I would like to see speeds exceeding 45mph. Any ideas?

Lots of options, especially for speeds around 50 mph. For a good but not top end build one option is 10S1P/5000mAh/45C packs, A Leopard 5692 or Castle 2028 motor, Castle HydraICE 200HV controller. With the right prop this will give speeds in the high 40s/low 50s with 2-3 minutes of run time. More run time needs double the packs, 10S2P.

There are other ways to go depending on the speeds and run time you want. You will not be able to match the run time of a gas boat with a liter of gas on board.

LOL sorry thats bigger than anything I run, wouldn't have a valid opinion! I'm a 4s person, just like the combination of cost vs. speed with 4s setups.

Thanks! I'm sure somebody has a fast reliable setup in a big mono. Just have to try diff things until I get it like I want it.

What about overdriving a big torque motor? Plenty of room to play with.
