Does a rudder water pickup cause drag

Like the title says, Is their more drag than a flush pickup mounted in the hull bottom. Not sure whether their would be any difference at all in bigger more powerfull boats but im running a 15" micro mono v boat, And although its quite a powerfull motor & set up relative to its size its still low powered compared with bigger boats. So every little helps the smaller you go. This is a quick boat buy the way so im not trying to make a slow or medium speed boat into a quick one with this mod. Any thoughts appreciated on this. Thanks Martin.

Tom at Octura will tell you YES there is increased drag. I really do not see it with the power and speed these days so for the nice water inlet built in I will always take that drag.. Unless you are trying to set records then it is no worry. We have seen everything from cut SS knives used and then it was a question of the wedge design...which has been proven to be better with less resistance.
