As someone whose racing pedigree is still very much in the "learning" part of the curve, I've picked up some good info here on mill lap procedures ( I know I'm straying a little off topic here, but please bear). I spectate a lot of gas & nitro heats and combined with some FE racing experience realize that ( to paraphrase a post here) winning often is determined in large part before the buzzer. I'm still one of the clueless ones who has lots of confusion on mill lap tactics. I just kind of fake it before the buzzer. To that extent I've suggested several times, to no avail, that a "How to Race" clinic be available. I think something like that could help attract those on the fence about getting into racing and not jump in because of the fear of not knowing enough. Not only was I once one, but I've seen budding potential racers observe quizically the rather technical aspects of the race start as well as how to complete the laps in decent shape and hold back on getting involved. If I only knew enough, I'd do a clinic myself to attract more guys into the fold to grow (in this case) FE race participation.
And while I'm blabbing on here, I'll say that at a WW race a few years ago, there was a class ( I think LSO) that did the LeMans start. I loved it. A real drag race to turn one. I'd like to see more of these
Still faking it but getting better at it,
Tony
And apologies for straying off topic
