    Frp???

    Can some one clear up exactly what an FRP hull is please. I see kyosho of america has a new nitro boat based on the twinstorm hull & stated its FRP. I have wanted to mod on of those for a while now. This new nitro version may be a better hull for that. Not like I'd be doing it any time soon but...lol

      FRP = fiber reinforced plastic

      The term generally refers to fiberglass but applies to a variety of construction types which can be laminated or injection molded. The plastic can be a thermoset such as polyester, epoxy, vinylester, etc., or it may be a thermoplastic like nylon or polyethylene. The fiber can be glass, kevlar or carbon and is usually in fabric or chopped fiber forms.

      The Kyosho hull is most likely glass reinforced polyester or maybe even epoxy.

            Kyosho makes plastic (ABS?) hulls with fiberglass layer inside, its a cheaper way to make a fiberglass hull, the plastic is thermoformed and then epoxy/fiberglass is applied inside, the plastic gives the shape and the fiberglass gives the strengh, this is cheaper for mass production because the mold is only used during few seconds for thermoforming the plastic while full epoxy/fiberglass molding requires long time hardening!
