    Trim tab position?

Where is the best place to mount them? halfway between chine and keel or nearer keel?

Depends on the angle of the V. Mount your strut or stinger first. Then look at where the prop will be. Draw a horizontal line just above the stub shaft and the inside of the tabs should be at or slightly above this line.

This is just for general reference. If using only 1 set of tabs I place them farther away from the strut. Generally mid way between the freeboard and keel.

I also like to mount tabs 1/8" from the bottom of the hull.

Alan is right about mounting the tabs above the hull bottom. I usually mount them about 1/16" above, but 1/8" would certainly work well too. The idea is to keep them from adding drag when not needed (as when set parallel to the bottom). We used to call them "drag tabs" if they were mounted too low.

Thanks chaps i am building a semi scale boat with submerged drive it wont have blistering performance so i'll probably mount them midway from keel to chine i hadn't thought of mounting them up the stern not level with the hull bottom.
