Guys,


Can someone please tell me where I need to be with my Center of gravity with my Aeromarine Cyclone?


She is 45" long and 17" wide. It will be runing on 8s2p with the big Leopard to start. That should push it in the mid to high 50's I would presume. I don't want to guess at the 30% number. I can make it adjustable anywhere from 25% to 35%.

What do you experienced big cat builders think it a good starting point. It will be raced in the open Offshore class.

CG% is kind of like a ballancing act.

#1 a boat hull needs to be stable.
#2 a lower CG% is faster, as long as rule #1 is not violated.

the following refers to a cat with a X series blade shape (bow lifting prop)
#3 a 2 bladed prop runs a lower CG%
#4 a 3 bladed prop prefers a higher CG%
#5 a deeper propshaft runs a higher CG%
#6 a shallower propshaft runs a lower CG%


rougher water conditions require higher CG% in order to keep the bow down.

Do not violate rule #1 ...........

Well thank you Harry. I think I will print a copy of this and keep it in my tool box.

I just built a set of CF battery trays. They will sit perfectly on both side of the hull. I have a range of 15" in which to move them forward or backward. That should be enough for all of the conditions that may face me.
