Need Drive Shaft Help

I bought this boat on the craigslist. It appears to be set up for nitro .46 motors. I measured the mounts and they appear to be set for 46's.

ANyhow, I want to go electric and have motors and esc's. The motors are KD36-74-06XL ... The KD36 inrunners are equivilent to 540 size motors. Front mount holes are 25mm apart. I want to buy some 36mm water jackets and mounts from OSE.

ALso, the brass tubes in my boat are 3/8" OD and like .31" inside. The motors I have come with 5mm shafts. I can't find a stuffing tube with flex shaft that will work. My boat appears set up for 11/32 stuffing and .250 flex, but there are no couplings to go from 5mm to .250. Can I add two stuffings?

Also, what size rudder will I need? Is there a good location for my servo? It looks like the hole is already in place. Do I just keep it as short as possible? Will CG come into play?

The boat is 41" long and around 24" wide. It is 6-7 pounds as it sits.

I also need a turning or stabilizing fin. What size will I need.

So far all I have is the boat, motors, 120amp esc's, and 2 4s lipos.

WHat size props will I need too. Does it matter if they are left or right?

It looks like the boat was set up for solid shafts,, old school 1980 ish more then likely the shaft are .187 or 3/16" are there needle bearings in the stuffing boxes ?

Not sure that boat is worth the effort to get it to run right you need to rip out the twin fixed drive line and put a 3/16 adjustable strut drive line

Looks like you got your hands full there... Looking at the radio box, it looks like a Prather screw down system but looking at the rest of the rigger, it looks like something else...Octura? Another name is on the tip of my tongue...

A good person to ask on these boards about the name and original running hardware would be carlcisneros...he is pretty "old school" with rigger info...

Is there a better boat I could put one or both of these motors into?

How about the RIgger Insanity. I see it will accept my Feigao. It sounds like it would only give 2-3 minutes running.

My Rigged Insanity uses the UL-1 motor/ESC combo...3 1/2 minutes is about right runtime wise...

thats an old Twin Pinkert Gator rigger from about 1980 or so.
It looks like it was set up for possibly 2 OPS 67's.
Yes it is also set up for solid 3/16" shafts.If taht boat does weigh in around 7lbs like you said, it is a very LIGHT gator.

To me it would really NOT be worth the headache you will have trying to convert that hull over to FE. The motors you have will not realy push that big and heavy a hull.

If I were you, I would get one of the Prebuilt FE JAE hulls that Offshore Electrics is selling.
You can not go wrong with those hulls for sure.
