    High amp ESC question.

I have the Hobbywing 180s in my 54" Fountain with Leopard 5692 motors. From day one I have been having issues here and there with them shutting down. I have gotten a few good runs out of them but it always seems like something is going wrong.

I think they are just not right for the setup. The boat has a RTR weight of 30 pounds and I think that combined with these motors and props is putting too much load on the ESC's.

So I know I want to go to a 240 amp. The question is which one? One thing I like about the T180's is that they have reverse. I would like this option in a 240 amp ESC if possible.

    What do you guys think?

It sounds like they are thermaling, or lvc is kicking in. To really help you though, we need a lot more info on your setup. prop info, lipo info, pics also help.

My boat is well known here, if you search "54 Bonzi Fountain" you will see tons.

But I'm not really interested in fixing the issue with the 180 amp ESCs. I knew from the beginning they would be border line for my setup. I want 240's so my question is.....is there a 240 with reverse/

Maybe its just to much weight on that esc....Since my 240hv esc to a crap on me I'm running my Df40 with the same motor, same esc but on with 2 3s packs.. my 2 6s packs made my hull weigh a ton. Short run times but at least that beast is on the water verses just sitting there looking pretty...

When I had them running on one pack it will still shutting down. The 180 amp ESC's do OK but as soon as I push it to full throttle I start having shut down issues. I played with all the LVC stuff. They were getting super hot.

I just want a bigger ESC so I can eliminate the ESC being too small as the problem.

Thats what I wanted to hear. I thought it did but I didn't know what "with lockout" meant.

Now if I can just find some.

I need 2 of them, I'll just hunt a couple down. Not a huge deal if I have to wait a while.

Man those Castle Hydra Ice 240's are out of stock everywhere. Imagine how much money Castle would be making if they could fill the demand.

No other 240 amp ESC's have reverse?

Does the regular Castle Hydra 240 have reverse?

I don't think I will find the ICE anywhere.

Great....the Castle Link looks like a nice feature as well.

Too bad Steve doesn't have any in stock. I would rather spend my money with him.
