    Genesis set-up

I recently purchased a genesis with a leopard 4074 2000kv and seaking 180 esc turning a x640 on 4s. I currently have the bottom of the strut level with the bottom of the boat when it's sitting on the table. Running (2) turnigy 4000mah 40c 2s in series it runs 43mph.

I think it should be faster than that, am I wrong?

Today I tried it on 5s and it ran 49.5, but I didn't want to damage anything so I only made a few passes. When I checked temps the motor and batteries were cool, but the caps on the esc were 130. I then tried a s220 prop on 4s and it ran 43.5, but the caps were still about 130.

I ordered an external ubec which I'm hoping will help with the esc temps. What else should I try to get more speed and lower temps, or are the temps ok?

On 4s your only turning 28,800rpm.Thats not alot. Its a safe rpm,but low nonetheless. On 5s,your turning 37,000rpm.Thats too high for a single drive.Decide what voltage you want to run and purchase your motor accordingly.A 2200kv motor would probably better suit you for 4s.
If it were me,Id go with a Leopard 4082 1500kv on 6s if you want speed. You ll be in the low 60's with this one.You ll have less amp draw than 4s and your esc caps wont be so warm.Dont run too big a prop or you pop something with either set up.

for that setup prather 220and X642 works great (wil test M642 when the ice goes away).
the 640 is a little to small to get it out of the water propparly.

you realy should connsider running 4S2P on that setup though as that motor can and wil pull more then 160 amp at times.
