inline rudder and strut on hydro?

Can I use an inline rudder and strut set up on a hydro 1/12 scale budweiser conversion? I see most are offset like it was stock but have an inline in parts so thought I might use it?

I don't see why not most nice cats are online and they are basically in the same class

Inline rudders are seldom used on hydros for good reasons. The roostertail hitting the rudder slows the boat down and because the stern of the boat is supported only by the prop this effects hydros much more than it does cats or monos. Ditto the rudder running in highly disturbed water which causes wandering in the straights. Frankly I do not like in-line rudders on cats or monos either.

Of course it is your boat and you can rig it any way you want. Just be advised that many thousands of R/C hydros have been built in the past forty years, and very very few of them used an in-line rudder.

Thanks Jay thats what I thought and hearing it from you puts the nail in the coffin so I'll figure out a offset rudder.
