Schulze ESC Wiring + Wire Length Question

Hey guys. On the Schulze 40.160 ESC's, there are two red and two black battery wires. I'm guessing these are for parallel use, but I just want to make sure I am correct.

My second question is what the length between the motor to ESC and ESC to battery should be. I think it should be 8" ESC to battery, but not sure about ESC to motor.

    Thanks!

Yes, the twin battery wires are for paralleling packs. You want to keep all wires short, but particularily the motor to esc wires. I would try to stay under 4" if possible.

Thanks! I just checked, my esc to motor wire total length is 5". Will this be okay? I will try to keep the battery to esc wires short as well.

As long as you are using good quality wire and no extra connectors you should be fine.

        Which motor are you using?

Not sure what type of wire it is, as it came with my boat. It's probably good quality though. I am running 2x Neu 2215 1.5y motors. There are only connectors where necessary.

I have that exact combo in my conquest although its a single. I hope you are using the older style Schulzes not the new ones?

You can read the pack posts where I had headache after headache getting the newer syle Schulzes to work with the Neu 2215/1.5Y.

I'm not sure which ones I have. How can I check? It says V-16 under some numbers which seem to be dates.

              I hope I don't have any problems!

You probably have the new ones. Are the caps on the laying over towards the center of the board or hanging off the end of the board?

The caps are hanging off the side. One of them is used and one of them is new. They both look exactly the same though.

That is good! They are the older style which seem to work much more reliably with Neu motors. The newer Schulzes have some more advanced controls it seems that have difficulties with the low inducatnce Neu motors.

Oh that's good to hear! I was getting a bit worried. Thanks for the info!

I can't wait to get this boat in the water, haha.

Just in case you need it. From the Shultze website.

The future (and other types e. g. smart or slim ) electronic speed controllers have been designed to operate correctly with a cable length between battery and controller at a maximum of 20 cm (7 inch) each lead.
In some installations it will be necessary to increase the length of the battery cables. In this case it is necessary to install additional low-ESR decoupling capacitors. The installation of these additional capacitors allows the increase to a total length of battery cables to as much as 30-50 cm (12-20 inches), depending on the motor load or 30 cm when using not inline (not end-to-end) soldered packs (12“ pos.+ 12“ neg. cable between "saddle-packs" and controller).
