If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2?

I do not know the limit for it.
However I am 100% sure it can easily handle 85mph, Probably also 90.
I have GPS'ed mine to 82mph no problem with way to high CG.

i have not tested mine yet but this spring i am trying the neu 2230 setup on 12s like kevinleu did and he was hitting close to 80 himself..i am going to be using a custom prop recommended by cmdi so i should be over 80 as well...the hull is really incredible..i am waiting for someone to hit 100 with it..not poisitive if it can be done though...but you never know until you try!! drop at least $2,000 into it and find out!!!

you can put pretty much use the most powerful electric motors availiable on this hull...it just depends on how fast and how much money do you want to spend..ttyl

2215 or even 2230 like Rip is doing, or leopard 5692 1090kv or 730kv on a budget. You could technicaly run something smaller but those are your options if you want to go fast reliably. I have some vid of my 40" with a 2215 I can link you when I get home (too difficult on my phone).

Why not the 1340kv 5692 model say on 7s Keith?

Seven S may not be enough horsepower for 80+ in this large hull. A fellow club member made an 80+ run through the SAW traps in LA - more legit than any "GPS" speed - but crashed on the follow-up run and couldn't repair the boat in time for another try. That was on 10S with IIRC a 2215/1.5Y. The prop was reasonably mild as I recall. Based on how the hull handled 80+ through the traps I'd guess it has 90-100 mph capability. However it is not strong enough to survive a high speed crash without some reinforcement to the deck and hatch.

Thats my 40" on 9s2p. Its ran in the 60's with that setup, but I got mid 70's out of it with 10s2p and a prather 240. I got a few GPS readings of high 70's but they were not consistant so I threw them out. (Usually when there are incosistant readings I assumet he GPs lost signal for a breif moment)
You can tell by the vid how well it handles at speed. It could turn at 70 as well but it started getting scary. There arent too many boats that can do that. I would imagine the 45" would be as good or better.
