Any other boats I should consider buying?

After doing much research and debating in my mind, I have narrowed down my next boat choices to the following for racing (In no particular order):

    1. Hobbyking Genesis
    2. Proboat Miss Geico

I am leaning towards the Genesis, because of price (Hull is $192.50 with hardware installed). I have a servo/receiver from my Apache which I could transfer into it. Only thing I would have to buy is an ESC.

I haven't factored in the cost of lipo batteries, because I know I will need them to run either of them. Just trying to stick with the cost of hardware only (ESC in this case).

With all that being said, are there any other RTR/ARTR boats I should consider? I am trying to keep it under $300 or so. I know it might be a long shot, but if I don't ask how will I know

My Proboat Apache is my sport boat. 2nd boat will be for racing.

Also, I would like an offshore cat similar to my Apache.

I already have a 2.4ghz system (DX3E and a DX3S). My Proboat Apache came with a Proboat 2.4ghz system, so no worries about the 2.4.

Both of the boats you mentioned are great boats. I have a Genesis and my pop has a Geico. They are fun in different ways but the Genesis is a larger investment in the long run. I got the hull as a gift but have 300 in mine not including the batteries.

Ask yourself what you are looking for? Handling, looks, size, speed etc.

If you are looking at monos, I have a P1 King of Shaves and its a blast. All boats have their issues so it comes down to your preference of style. The Supervee 27R is another great boat with good speed and reliability. Good luck!

But since you are interested in the cats and racing, I would say get the Geico, turns amazing! You could wait til AQ comes out with the Motley Crew!!

Motley Crew looks absolutely stunning...will have to wait for some reviews to see how it handles.

The other reason I want to get a cat, is because I am getting used to handling my Apache which is a cat. I know people have told me learning to drive a deep vee is easier, but why would I want to switch back after getting used to one type of hull.

Maybe down the line I might get a Deep vee, just not right now.

Morgan, the Genesis does not handle the race course as well as the Geico or the Motley Crew do. You may want to consider either of the latter two, they can run in the club's LSO class....

I started off with the Apache 24 myself. Got me started with the addiction. It's handling is poor but all in all a fun little boat. Brushless is the way to go. You won't be disappointed with the Geico.

As for mono's they are easier to handle and set up imho. As you grow into the sport the boats I mentioned are great RTR's and very reliable. Good luck!

I have both, a Genesis and a Geico(as you can see in my avatar) and can tell you that they should not be in the same list. The Geico will run circles, at WOT no less, around 75% of the boats on the market. If a racing boat is what your looking for get the Geico or wait for the Aquacraft Cat to be released and give that a try.

Yes I have at one point...but struck that off my list as I knew someone who had one and wasn't happy with it...although I don't remember the reason why now.

I never thought of handling issues with the Genesis. I assume the handling issues stem from the length of the Genesis or is there another reason?
