You would do well, with this. http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m822-2860-5050kv.html
on 2s, only. as always start with a small prop and work up. with this motor on 2s, start with a 30-32mm prop.
This motor is very similar to the etti b29 series motors, that are run on 2s.

An affordable Feigao would work well...............540-10L on 3s.

540-10L on 3s at 27,283 RPM sounds a bit low to me for a mono1

          3s 3400kv = 37,740 RMP FLYING..............................

In my DF 26 I ran a Feigao 8L On 3s1p 5000mah with a x637 and it was a little rocket. What hull is it in question?

I run a leopard 2860 2730kv motor on 3s in my 26 Prince/delta force copy with x637. Everything comes in at 90 degrees and under. I can prop up to a x440 or x640 with no problem. With the X637 I am running in the low 40's all day long. Amazing motor with tons of power, rated at 1300w. I ran the stock motor to the tune of 35mph and everything was hot. I can't say enough good things about leopard motors, the absolutely rock!

Sounds low for what? There was no clarification as to the usage of the boat, so trying to help a newer boater I figured one that would be in the lower end of racing rpm's and higher end of sport boating. Your suggestion is close to SAW rpms, were you aware he was making SAW passes, I wasn't given that info. My suggestion of the 10L was also in the spirirt of helping a newer boater to have a cooler running setup with a larger prop selection range. There's more to it than just pure rpms, maybe he should go with the second post suggestion which would last about 10 seconds, I'm done answering these newb motor questions, I'll leave it to the experts such as you.

Easy Easy, make a wake. We are trying to help another beginner boater here. I will make a few points from experience.
Feigao motors are no where the same quality as the tacon/leopard motors. That being said, running a larger can diameter feigao to keep temps low and amp draw low is really not any more efficient than running a smaller more efficient motor. The tacon (leopard copies) are about a third the price of a feigao. period.
5000kv on 2s is totally reasonable, and is what mono-1 classes run, mainly in europe.
the 2860 motors, as mentioned are almost identical to the etti b29 class motors, which are kvs of 4960, 4650, 4100, 3800. ALL of these are 2s motors. The individual who started this thread asked about 2s and 3s motors. That is what we are offering him, in terms of ideas to start with. It doesn't make any sense to buy a lower quality 2-pole motor, when there are NOW immensley better alternatives in the 4-pole version for an equal or lower price. This wasn't the case, even last year. Soo, when in Rome.

make-a-wake.....As far as you saying being done with answering "newb motor questions". Don't answer them, No one is making you do so. We are all trying to help each other here, afterall I won't mention any names but there are a few other rc-boating forums that asking a question is like cutting your own throat. Just putting it out there. This forum has stayed away from that for the most part.

Lucozader hopefully amidst all of this you got an answer you were looking for.

Fred, thanks for your opinions. You are basing them on experience, as am I with many years experience.
Not jumping anyones behind, as you say. I was saying that a member, stating he's Done helping a newb with motor choices is contradicting to what our forum is all about. I didn't slam anyone in my statements...simply stating facts, thank you very much.

Now, lets get back to technical questions about boats.

Glad we are getting back on topic.

In my DF26 I've run a feigao 540 5L all the way to a feigao 540 10L. All have been good and served different purposes. So in the end it depends on the need of the boat owner.
