Add trim tabs and turn fins or not?

Have a 25/26 DF clone running an 8L motor on 2 or 3 S. It runs and turns great and so was wondering why just about every version of this hull uses trim tabs and turn fins. ( Kintec Prince, Rocket etc) Previous owner of the hull gave me the tabs and fins in with the sale but said he never needed them.
So what would they do for me?
I figure a little more drag but COG would be more flexible as you can pitch up or down with the tabs. The turn fins obviously are supposed to give more bite in a turn especially when the rudder is on the high side but is this more hype than fact? Maybe hull dependent for relative effectiveness?
Got to say the tabs and fins look cool on a boat though but kind of hate drilling holes in a hull that maybe does not need them.

I only put on trim tabs as a last resort, I build my boats without and try to get it to run properly. Some boats have hull defects that can be fixed with some filler and/or sanding, the fast guys blueprint the bottoms of the hull, most others just run tabs as a band aid solution.
I've never had a mono that turned as well as I like without a turn fin.
They turn but they skid in the turn.
I only use them on the right side, I don't turn left too often, just minor corrections.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Thanks kind of what I suspected for the tabs they correct hull/load problems that you can't sort any other way, I will double check my turns next time out for skid to see if it needs fins or not.
