should you grind flat spot for drive dog??

Just installed a new one piece flex cable system in my apparition, this has a 3/16" smooth round stub and there is no flat spot for the drive dog, should i be grinding an area for the drive dog set screw or not?? thanks.

      OH, HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

other wise, it is watch the shaft go round and round and the prop staying in one place.

Been there, done that MANY years ago. LOL

im going to have the same issue next week, when we grind the flat spot do we solder that spot or just leave it bare and how much of a flat spot do we grind?

I grinded a small flat spot with my tiny dremel bit, then i finished it with the thin edge of a file so its perfectly square and flat, worked great its a 3mm flat spot.

I like to make a drill point in the shaft for the set screw to fall into.

Its a tic stronger then a flat spot.. but a flat spot works too!
