If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2?

It's like anything else. My mother in law killed the motor in her 98 pathfinder in under 100k miles due to poor maintenance and abuse.

I'm new to boating too but I have learned from my years in the hobby that over sizing equiptment is the way to go. If I need a 120A I will get a 180 or 200. When I want to run 6s I will get something rated for high voltage. It's not that hard. Just common sense.

I'm with Blackjack on this one.
            I've been running 4 Himodel GX200A 8s ESC's on 4s setups Pulling between 100 & 130 Amps for a few years now & haven't blown a cap or a fet yet.
Double the voltage & current capabilities. And using the BEC in all of them.
            Cheers.
            Paul.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

I have a novak t-4 in my RC10 gold tub that was bought when the buggy was first released over 20 years ago, last fall it was still going strong.
It ran a few times in a hydro with ni-cads, that was my first attempt at FE, gave up on it for a few years! Nitro was more fun back then!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

ESC's last until you, or the racing Gods, blow it up. No set rule of thumb.
