Has this happened to anyone before?

I had another thread going with this in it but thought seeing this is a different issue it might need its own thread.

Anyone know the cause of the below?, they are wires coming from the motor connecting to ESC.

Im not sure if the boat got to hot or the connectors are a weak point for heat?

When touching the motor i could hold my fingers on it for 3 seconds before it got to hot to touch.

The motor is a stock genesis one 2075 kv, the ESC is a 120A seaking, with 5000mah 4S batteries in para.

    Any help would be great.

Your pulling too many amps and the solder is melting.

Yep................ and the "finger" rule is 5 seconds or its too hot...............3 seconds is too hot.

smaller prop, but could definately also use a better quality motor and bigger bullet connectors

Prop is pretty much the same size as the original but metal with 3 blades.

The motor might be changed in the next coming months but for now only just starting out Id like to keep this one.

Would bigger bullets make a difference to heat? I would have thought the solder would melt at the same temp no matter how big the bullet was.

bigger bullets will hold up to the heat much better, but its not gonna change your amp draw, you need a smaller prop for that. Those stock motors are bottom of the line though, its only a matter of time untill it cooks, i'm gonna say its probably the main reason for the high temps, dont let it ruin your esc with it.

Can anyone suggest a motor that is better which allows me to keep the same cooling system, prop and shaft?

Also another thought, would running only a single battery help in reducing the amps? might be the easy and cheapest fix for now.

Yep............here's a direct drop in replacement. Its a 4 pole Leopard, much more efficient than the stock motor and more torque...............it will run much cooler too!

One more thing you can look at is if you did not do the soldering on the connectors some of the cheep stuff has bad soldering. I have unsolered some to find only about a 1/8" of solder on it that would explain why it is only in one little spot. unsolder them and have a look can't hurt that would make them get hot to

adding 1 more blade would add quite alot of exstra amps if it is the same size as the original one and the original motor is not big enough to get that hull out of the water no matter what prop you use.
if you have to use the orginal motor you should try a b\s X438 or a X637.
on my genesis the 637 was the faster one (with the original motor) but it was harder to get on plane then with a 438.

It gets on the plane quite easy. At about 1/8th of the throttle.

Did you check out the Leopard i posted a link to..............? You should consider it, same dimensions and would just bolt right in, plus it can handle more prop

the leopard 4074 also fits right in (the suport ring have to go though) but wil push your hull to close to 60 mph
