    venom segad brushless conversion

ok, im done with the proboat 1/8 hydro. it ran great on a leopard 5692 1000kv on 8s2p with a swordfish hv 240 and VERY reliable. however, the design of the hull was something ive should have taken into consideration knowing that its closely near to impossible to make it water tight. (swordfishes arnt really "fishes" if you may) i have made up my mind on purchasing a 53" venom segad cat (hull only) and converting it to (single drive) electric. it weighs approx. the same as my proboat 1/8 hydro if not a bit lighter (bare hull). im thinking of running the same setup except i want 10s2p. This hull is designed for gas but from the looks of it i should be able to get a water tight seal. the swordfish is a fantastic esc but its weakness is WATER! advice anyone?

If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2?

Yup like alexgar mentioned waterproof it. I fried a 120 aquastar (same as the swordfish just different sticker) when a little bit of water got on it. After that I waterproofed the next ones and all was well.

Well the warranty part I am not sure about. I had 2 120s one got wet and poof so the second I had I waterproofed the 120 sold it and currently have the 200. On the 120 after I water-proofed it I used f4 tape. Worked good but looked like crap. On the 200 I will use this http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...s-shrink-2.12c

As for water-proofing I use this on everything. So far I have done 3 tactic rx's, a 120 esc and a eagletree data logger. All have been protected successfully. This is the product I use: http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CFQQ8wIwAQ#

I got mine from Harbour freight. I use like 3-5 coats, 15ms wait between coats on the last coat let sit overnight. Protect all exposed plugs. For example if you are using it on a rx make sure that your don't get any on the connectors prongs that the servo/esc plug into. I used a piece of foam to press over the plugs.

In my opinion, I would not buy that hull...50" cat hulls from other manufacturers may be a better choice. I do not have a hull of that length, what do other members think who have experience with 50" FE cats suggest?

yea but most 50" hulls from other manufacturers are so ugly and wierd looking. sorry, just my opinion. this hulls got a trully sexy look to it. and the quality is outstanding! im still browsing around though!

Well I just bought Mad Mike of RRR's... 50" H&M SuperCat M-1... has a Single Lehner 3080/11 with a Schulze... I was supposed to downsize my fleet... oops...

anyway I think Dougie is right.... on blowover and that Venom hull is could very well be Fiberglass all over the water... just not the quality of hull to really make zing.... big boats make big catastrophes..... :)

ok, thats IF one decides to push it over 60 mph. i will admit that even at 50 mph a catastrophe can in fact occur IF the right conditions are met ie. unnecessary weight on the boat, no reinforcement to the hull, and many other factors that one should should take into consideration. btw where can i take a look at the hull you just purchased?

If you are a member at RRR you can see the pics... here is the thread I bought it from:

I love H&M hulls .... VERY strong... but you are right... with the right work done on the Segad it could be made to work fine... and lets face it, it is a looker!!!

Venom Segad Gas cat = not a good idea for FE. The hulls handle bad enough at low speed with stock gas power. Why not buy a hull that will handle some speed and chop?
