Viper Owners: Anyone have experience on 2s1p?

Looking for input and feedback from any H&M Viper owners either Turbine or Prototype versions who have tried running on 2s1p.

I've mainly run 4s1p, but I've been thinking that since I've got mine dialed in nicely, I might try a different setup with less weight. Let me know what your experiences have been and please specify setup including prop choices and amp draw if known.

    Thanks!

No idea Ben, but it has crossed my mind as well... I think it would work great.

Just make sure it's one HEFTY 2S1P pack because with lower voltage you are p[ushing a boat with current more than voltage. We used to run 2S2P because of the high current drain.

This is one of the reasons N2 classes vanished because the current draw was so high and you rarely went faster than a 4S1P setup using 1/2 the current but twice the voltage.

We run similar-sized sport hydros on 2S1P and have a ball. Our club motor is a Feigao 7L with an x440. Speeds are mid-40s and the boats don't use that much battery, about 2000 mAh for a 5/8th mile heat. Temps are not bad either, even on a 90*F day. These are our old LSH hulls which are too small for the speeds we run today (mid-50s with UL-1 motors). A great, cheap solution!

Thanks guys. The battery I'd run is a MarinePower Eon33 - 33C continuous, 66C climbouts, at 4550mah, it will handle 150A continuous and 300 burst.

I was thinking since the Viper seems to have a top speed of just around 60-62mph, 58 or so for turbine version unless conditions are perfect, it might do well with less weight. Considering the significant aero lift that comes into play around 60mph which often leads to blow-over, then I was thinking I might try converting my to a lighter setup and shoot for 55-56mph.

My particular version especially likes an X642 on a 2300kv motor on 4s1p. When loaded with 2s1p setup, i think it will be too much prop in every condition, even though I do prefer more RPM. Instead I was thinking Lehner Basic XL 5000kv on a detongued Y535. I'm not sure if it will stick in the water without blowing out due to too much lift, but I could always switch to something like a X632 that might stick better.

Ideas or experiences with these setups? I don't have a lot of experience with 2s1p setups.

Absolute fun is what I'm interested in for this project. I'd also like the opportunity to use the 4 EON33 batts I have and take some time to understand what changes affect each aspect of a good running model. This may seem trivial to most, but I'm continuing to search for these lessons learned in a proven platform to apply to current and future setups. I think most of you will think me silly.

Anyone else with a Viper that may have tried 2s?
