    Need Help

Can anyone direct me to some beginners guides.

I have read nearly all tips and info on this website but things that I need to know don't always show up.

For example. Hooking up batteries to the ESC do you do red wire first then black or the opposite? or doesn't it even matter?

What do the beeps from the motor mean? I'm trying to hook up my receiver and i get beeps from the motor but no control through the radio.

The boat is a genesis cat with stock motor. The instruction manual seems quite useless.

    thanks for your help

The plugging sequence doesn't actually matter. But I generally connect the red wire in the last because it LOOKS hot.

Motor beep means different things according to diff brands. a user manual of your ESC would help.

You need to do the throttle calibration and setup the esc properly before it will run... Depending on the radio you are using sounds like the esc is not properly arming. If using a radio with a digital trim make sure the trim is at 0 to start, if a dial style trim on your radio first try full CW and try the to arm it if that doesn't work try the trim at "12 o'clock" position.
        Here's your manual: http://www.hobbywing.com/upload/manual/HW-15.pdf

          It seems to work.

Once you hook everything up and touch the remote the motor goes full throttle even if you take the finger of the trigger. The only way to stop it is to press reverse.

Maybe the ESC is out? I bound the remote before hand.

I looked at those instructions, i find that some instructions arent set out simple or have a lot of detail not needed which can cause confusion.

Im sure if I was shown how to do it or provided only instructions needed in a simple format it would be easy.

          The joys of learning.

            Try adjusting the throttle trim.

We have one of those HK GT2 cheapies.

I tried adjust the TH trim and that seem to work with the throttle to get it functioning normally. But the trim for the Steering doesnt seem to work at all. So we have throttle but no steering.

Ill have a play around with them and see if i cant get the steering working.

There are two rudder adjustment knobs on those TX.
the right hand one is the endpoint control. Turn it completely anti clockwise for full rudder throw. If it is fully clockwise the rudder won't move at all.
The left hand one is the trim control. Set that one to the centre to start with.
If that doesn't fix the rudder problem just check that the servo plug is in the correct port & the right way around. Yes I've done that before.
If you have a spare servo lying around plug that in & try it. You may have a crook servo in the boat.
I use this radio & have had no problems with it. I'm sure it's a simple fix.
                Cheers.

Well your not alone LOL , it was around the wrong way, lesson learnt!

We took it out for a run and it went great, however the second run didnt go so well.

After 10 mins or so the boat was losing power and assumed it was the LVC, when i took off the canopy a small amount of smoke came out. I noticed the wires from the motor where the hook up to the banana plugs had a hole where it had burnt a bit. This happened on two wires, see photo:

Im not sure if the boat got to hot or the connectors are a weak point for heat?

When touching the motor i could hold my fingers on it for 3 seconds before it got to hot to touch.

The motor is a stock genesis one 2075 kv, the ESC is a 120A seaking, with 5000mah 4S batteries in para.

                  Any help would be great.
