    motors

    Hi

Which motor would have more power & make a boat faster??

    neu 1527 - 1250 Kv max watt 4500 21.8 Ounces $259 run 22.2v -27750rpm

    leopards 5692 - 1340kv rate max 5000 Burst 32oz $185 22.2v -29748rpm

seem to me the leopard would be faster, But then I see the best boat have Neu motor and castle , I have to be missing something.

    Thanks

None of the above, without knowing a lot more information, you have to be more specific.

Depends on what props you're going to be using. 1527's smaller rotor allow faster RPM, which is good for smaller dia. props, may require 8S to discover its full potential though. The 5692 OTOH, spins larger props with ease.

The Neu 1527/1Y is one of the most popular racing motors for 6S hydros, cats and monos. It will drive those relatively lightweight under 40" hulls to around 60-65 mph easily.

The Leopard is a much larger heavier motor, better suited to large heavy hulls although it would work in smaller ones (making them heavier than they need to be). It will spin up just as fast as the Neu 1527/1Y but it will be most efficient swinging larger props than the Neu. The efficiency of the Leopards is not quite as good as the Neus IME so the former will run slightly hotter with slightly less run time. The Kv of that motor makes it a 6S motor, 8S would be too much for most use other than SAW racing - which also limits the size/weight of the hull in which it can be used.

The choice between them depends on your specific use for it.

              Thanks

So the anwser would be quite clear: the Neu 15xx series. 5692 is simply too big to fit, especially with a cooling jacket installed, and considering the angled mount. I can't imagine how a 56mm motor can be squeezed into my HPR115.

I tried 142km/h(85mph?) last fall with a pair of Leopard 4092 motors, X447L/R props, 180A ESCs and 4x 6S5000mAh Turnigy lipos. Will try 150km/h with a pair of ABC 1816 props when the lake melts.

With Neu1527 you have sufficient reasons to expect higher speeds than I did.

dasboata, I am really surprised you know my building thread. Thanks for reading Not sure why it doesn't work for many others though.

Laddie, what experience do you have with FE boats? And what is your budget for subject boat?

Thanks. It was such a great hull that I think well worthy of every effort to build.
