Actually the original boat was named for the '80s hair band. From the race team's promo sheet:
"“We wanted to come up with a catchy name people could relate to because we think offshore needs something that people can relate to.....the slight change in the spelling of the name from Crue for the band to Crew for the boat reflects the personalities of the members."

They could cash in on this with probably a lot of potential Spartan buyers put off sitting with $400 burning a hole in their pockets. Im sure Aqucraft will have done their r&d correctly on this boat before they release + youll have the confidence if their should be a problem arise they will address any issues to their customers. Thanks Martin.Comment

Pm me, Ive got a bunch varying in sizes. Not quite free but pretty close.
I dont mind the Motley crew look. I think it looks good, especially the way Hanpeters' hull is done up (HPR). Personally, I feel the boats not quite right. Particularly in the bow area. But, ss long as it handles, who cares, but something makes it look "toyish" to me. Hoefully its just the pics. Would I still own one, Hell yeah, especially if it performs anything like the Geico.Attached FilesComment

Motley vs Geico
Anyone care to comment on this vs the Geico in terms of performance? I know it is too early to really know but that has never stopped opinions on this forum before!
I am not knowledgeable enough on motors yet to have a feel for this.
Certainly to my eyes the Geico looks nicer but again that is subjective and is just my opinionComment

grim did some extensive r&d with this. Im sure for what he went thru, it will be very similar in comparison to the Geico. We on the forums have known about this boat for quite some time now. Theres a thread on it somewhere that started months and months ago, maybe even close to a year, I cant remember. So this thing has really really gone thru testing. Im sure it will be a winner.

I was lucky enough to be able to test the cat for a few weeks. It was a hand-built prototype so I don't know what - if anything - changed when it went into production. I don't have a Miss G to compare it to, but the Aquacraft cat handled great and the motor is awesome. I put on an m445 - no other changes - and hit mid/high 40s easily. The tunnel design helps to keep the boat running flat and loose, although it is possible to blow it off running into the wind. The hull was not a lightweight but it should be very strong - stronger than the UL-1 anyway. It may not be quite as pretty as the MG but the one I got sure performed well. It is a fun boat to run!
