Rather than use a roll of vinyl tape and a heat gun for the curve I was thinking of cutting a windshield for my hull out of a vinyl faux carbon fiber sheet. My problem is getting a pattern or template to use, does anyone have ideas except trial and error? Was hoping to find a generic template I could scale.

Hull is black and previous owner painted on a white windshield I do not like the shape and style it is too big. Was going to sand down cowl rattle can spray black then use faux carbon fiber for a smaller design windshield.
Just have had a problem making a pattern or template for it. Sounds like trial and error with a paper pattern is the way others have gone with this.Comment

I just use pinstripe tape and eyeball it while laying it down. Once its down and your happy, use 1/4 tape to overlap part of the pinstripe tape, then I follow it again w/ 1/2" or 3/4" tape and paper.
This is one of the hatches I make, so theres a frame line already there, but you get the concept. Ive done several boats usingthe pinstripe and eyebally method and they have all come out looking great.Attached FilesComment

I have used black electrical tape in the past. Sticks as good as most vinyl decals. But it won't show up very well on black!Legend 36 sailboat, KMB Powerjet Ed Hardy Viper, ABC jet pwrd BBY Oval Master, ABC Hobby Jetski, NQD Tear Into's, HK Discovery 500, MickieBeez pwrd Jet Rigger!, Davette/Gravtix jet sprint, KMB Powerjet Pursuit, NQD pwrd Jet Catamaran!,Steam pwrd African Queen, Sidewinder airboat, Graupner Eco PowerComment
