    37" Daytona cat motor choises

    what do you folks think?

    twin leopard 4074's 2000KV running 5s

    OR

    twin Castle 1520 1600KV running 5 or 6s?

got to make a choice soon here.
not too much left to do on the twin Insane 45" mono conversion.

I vote 4074s. Another member here has ran similar 2200kv motors on 5s in a sprintcat with good results. I think the castles are larger than what you need in a twin setup.

i would say 1512 1800 kv castles o 6s would be more than enough

Really, both choices are too much. If one of those motors can push that hull to 60mph (which they can) I'd go smaller. The 1512's listed above would be an excellent option. Or, the 2650 kv version on 4s. I've had a pair of 1520's sitting in the sponsons of one of these hulls with a pair of 6s packs. It was HEAVY!

          too heavy? ok

These are the motors I have and was wanting to use them in the boat.

So, the 1520 on 6S would be a good choice then Rum? (single motor)

Absolutely. If you want to go twin, you could always sell them for smaller motors. It's funny, I just did the exact thing.

i run a 4074 2000KV (single) on 4S in my genesis (same hull as the daytona i beleve) and is pushing 58 mph so i wont even dare to think what you can do with 2 of those on 5S.

Vid, what prop and esc? I just set mine up w/ that set up and sold it to a member on here. A club member was running that set up on a T-180 and I think a 640 prop and pushing 50. I had his motor and a brand new T-180 so I set it up from my 1520 set up on 6S and shipped it off.

I originally ran the Leopard 1400KV on 6S and then went to the 1520. There was really no speed difference using the same prop. Maybe a mile an hour. I never pushed this at all, infact, it always came in at or under 100 degrees on everything and pulled 110A. It gpsd at 54, if I remember on a M440 prop..

so far my best prop been a prather 220 that egnegg made for me. but i wil be testing a M642 and X645 when the water stops beeing solid. my X642 gave it 56,8 mph but it seemed to run a little wetter with the 642.
i run a hydra 240LV in mine. motor and esc comes in cool after 8-9 minutes on the P220.

                            mind is made up.

will use the 2 leopard 4074's 2000kv on 5s for heat racing.

200AMP esc's and start with ABC props, probably the 1816/3 cleavers, maybe the 6100 series to start with to set the boat up initially.

thanks to all you folks for your inputs.
They are very much apreciated, believe me.
