Why are you useing epoxy mixed 50/50 & adding alcohol to thin, I assume that your useing epoxy glue & thinning. Just use laminating epoxy from any model shop which requires no thinning. Epoxy resin also losses its strength when thinning, The more you thin the less strength it has. Thanks Martin.

I just realised some laminating or finishing epoxys are mixed 50/50, The one i use at the moment & some others ive used in the past are mixed 5-1 ratio ie West systems. Thanks Martin.

I'd forget the motor and learn to set up and drive what you have, you're going to get your butt kicked racing until you learn some basics anyway, more power won't help, it will actually make things harder. Especially in a boat that small, it's only going to go so fast no matter how much motor you throw at it, then it just becomes undrivable for anybody no matter how good a tuner or driver they are.
The fastest boat rarely wins, it's the guy with the best setup who can reliably finish every heat in the top couple of boats.
Just stick a 20$ hobbyking turnigy 3650 or 56 from 1800-2300 kv use a 120 amp esc and learn what to do from there. A couple 25-30c 2s 5000mah packs and you'll have a boat way faster than you skills can handle on a race course.
Learn how to hug the bouys in the turns and not have to correct going down the straight, learn about how different props work, it's going to take you quite a while to get the best performance out of what you've got.
Nobody had it all down perfect before they even drove a boat!
You seem to do what you want any way regardless of what people suggest who do have the experience, so I figure you're going to have a long and expensive learning curve.
        Good luck
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I'll try get you the link! http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=6529 i think its that motor! what do you guys think? Can you send me the best motor you think I need from hobbyking! Thanks alot

or i have this choice! http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=6677 it might be a bit higher kv though. well i want a motor that wont heat up too much with a bigger prop on 4s. and ofcourse i want it to go around 40mph if thats possible with these motors. please send me any good motor from hobbyking that will do what i want it to which is stated above. thanks

Junk motor! Just stick an ammo or sv or whatever in it, stick a big prop on that boat and it will suck! It's called torque! thats a small boat you need to run a small prop at a higher rpm or torque roll will become a problem.
It's a good hull but it has it's limits, it can be fast within reason but with the right setup.
You can have fast, reliable or cheap- choose any 2!
              That boat is smaller than a SV27, a SV rocks near 40mph with a 30/56 1800kv 400 watt motor.
You're trying to power a 25" boat like it was a 33" p-mono and it ain't going to work!
If you want to run those motors and speeds you need a bigger boat.
No matter what you put in that boat for power it will never be on the same performance level as a bigger hull, you have to build to what you have and thats a 25" long boat!
SOunds like you should have bought the 32" version for what you think you want to do. A honda can be a fast little car but it isn't a Ferrari! And was never designed to be! Same here you're trying to stick a big block where a inline 4 should be!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I got 37mph with a K42 prop, 3000 KV motor and some low end batts...

As far as thining the epoxy thats what Ive read to do somewhere. Never heard of the laminating epoxy. Im still new to boats and Im still learning. I dont know all of the products available by any means. Also not an expert on boats by any means.

My simple suggestion and observation with the original poster is he is a younger guy without much cash that wants to go as fast as he can. What he needs to realize is if he skimps on things he could loose it all to the pond monster. Making your hull strong and capable is just as important as flotation. Also with the racing bit... Theres a ton more to it then a small boat with a big motor. I dont think I would ever dream of racing as I know Im gonna get my rear end handed to me daily... For me this is all just personal fun.

Laminating epoxy is what all the hulls are made with providing their epoxy ones & not polyester resin ones. This type of epoxy is quite common, they also sell it in model shops for wing skinning. Or marine & boat stores sell the relavent type of epoxy like west systems 105 resin & 205 hardner + several other makes. Martin.

Well I'm not racing anyways! There's no rc boat racing in bundy apart from sailboat racing that's one race I would win lol! I just want a boat going fast! People who have no idea of rc boats see my boat and think oh yer that will be slow and then I tear past them at 40mph and think that's awesome lol. I think I may still go for the leopard 2200kv cause it will be more efficient and will handle a bigger prop easier!

Alright changed my mind but this time it is final! I am not going to strengthen the hull at all mainly because it will change the weight of the hull and I can use the money to go towards the motor! People on here with the 25" prince haven't used it so I rekon the hull will be strong enough! Also siberianhusky - u said to use the motor I have now which is the feigao 380 7xl! Are u saying I should use this motor?? I got a feeling it would get pretty hot! But it would Only be run on 3s!

Actually I might buy some if I can con my dad in letting me buy it lol. Cause I don't want stress fractures later on if I can stop them from happening now lol! I'll let you know what I do but if I'm allowed I will be buying glue, carbon Kevlar sheet and a rubber boot to seal the servo rod to stop water getting in my hull! Thanks
