Lipo Batt hull location

I Have a MHZ Mystic M44 and the Batteries are mounted in the centre of the hull.
The Batteries are Hyperion 5S/18.5v 35c 6500mah,
Length is 160mm x 47w x 60h. The batt trays are only wide enough to stand the batt up not lie flat. I cant put the batt in the sponsons as the motors have been mounted in the centre of the hull and the drive shafts are running down either side to the rear of the boat. I think my only options are, To replace the trays with a wider pair or modify the trays to lie the batt flat.
Any Ideas?

I think you can modify the trays.
