Im planning on using a set of these for my genesis but not removing the rudder pick up system, does anyone really know how much water these pass, im aware of speed factors and locations of inlets but the rudder is far more superior in cooling....correct? I was just thinking of adding these for a bit more flow, think thats what they were soley designed for, seems i read something on the product sayin that but could be wrong. dont ask me where i read it, im getting oldComment

I from todays experience know they dont flow nearly as good as rudder pick ups. But they did keep everything cool for my run today. After long hard thought i think im gonna remove them and glass over them and rely in the rudder only. I have a feeling mid summer things could get hot with warmer water temps. I just wanted them because I think it looks so much better without a hose entry on the rear if the boat. If I had it to do over again I wouldnt have wasted my time or money. Could have bought some extra drive dogs or something. Just my opinion. Chris did explain how to get more water to flow and that did work im just not sure its enough. Hope this helps.Comment

I have done a little more research and think im going to stay away from this on higher power applications untill i do my share of testing.....some of the guys been drilling a simple hole and installing brass tubing and working well, i bought those pre made ones, ill see where my temps go when its warmer out and then deside on what to do, i agree the hose sucks out back but funtions quite well, i am going to larger 1/8 dia hose thou.....that should help volume alotComment

I am running 1/8 " id hose aswell. I also previously on one of my gas boats used the brass tubing just like your talking about and was in the same situation im in now. Not much flow. I figured it was because the brass tubing wasnt as good as the real deal flush pick ups. Thats why I went this route this build. Same thing, low flow. Im just dont want to fry anything. Makes me feel so much better when I can see the water comming out. Im up against a wall here.Comment

Talked to two very informative gents here on this subject and both say it works just fine but rudder pumps very well, i agree with the visual and all but if your temps are good, ur good. volume is always better than pressure, keep that in mind, learned that valueable lesson in drag racing, the same applies here.
good luckComment

Maybe ill stick with them ....hell im so wishy washy about details like this. But like I stated earlier after about a 4 minute run of hot laps all was cool to the touch. Didnt break out the temp gun because i didnt see a need. Like you said volume of pressure, just need to get that beat in my thick skull. To me its like always having a temo gauge in your car you can see(seeing water comming out) then having someone take it away. Takes getting used to.Comment
