    Not sure what the default from Castle is as the asterisk doesn't really tell us anything. Which outrunner motor are you using?
    Castle uses the asterisk in their menus to identify the defaut settings for their controllers.

      100% correct. Askterisks are the default settings. Recommended timing is dependent on the motor you're using it with. Delta wind motors we recommend low advance timing (esp Neu motors, he even has this on his site ). Wye wind motors you can use low or standard timing, turning it any higher increases motor temps and lowers efficiency so you have to watch your temps. You'll have very little power output gain, but there will be some...in most cases though it's not enough to notice a difference. PWM leave at 12KHz for inrunner motors with our controllers. For outrunners set it to outrunner mode or if you're using a Scorpion motor use 8KHz (Scorpion only). The higher PWM values are for very low inductance motors and there are VERY few of them on the market. Turning the PWM too high causes excess ESC heat as the FETs are switching at a faster rate, and going too high with this setting can cause improper motor operation. Hope this helps.
