    Another Coupler Question

I have a 3650 Leopard with 1/8th drive shaft ( 3.17mm) that I want to put in to a 25 inch hull which has a 3/16 th flex shaft.

Looked here on OSE and searched but so far come up with nothing that is an exact fir. Surely 1/8 drive to 3/16th flex is not that unusual both being standard sizes in the FE world.?

Can someone please point me in the right direction please?

    Thanks
    Peter

    Wow...an 1/8" to 3/16" (.187) flex collet....hmmm....

Your best bet is to PM Jeff Wohlt...he is a member on here. He should be able to make one for you.

You can also switch down to a .150 cable...seems that the .187 is overkill for that size hull....

You could use a Octura Flex Hex Backwards. They sell 3/16" x 1/8" COUPLERS.

      I think Ihave one...

I would maybe switch down to .150...

But, if you don't I could make a coupler pretty easy for you. I make some odd stuff on occasion.

This would be fairly easy for me.

I agree it is a pretty extreme combo but I already had the motor and just purchased the hull from the swap shop it is a DF 25/26 copy
Appreciate the comments guys so my choices are a custom collet, an octura on backwards (not sure I like that) or switch to a .150 shaft, ( would that mean having to put in a new stuffing tube as well or run a teflon liner to keep the boat dry?)
Then I guess the other two options are to sell the hull or get another motor.

        Hmmmmmm decisions,
        Peter

Could I shim the motor shaft end using brass stock like you can do on the prop shaft end perhaps and then use a more regular coupler?

if i was to do anything i think id buy a bigger motor with a 5mm shaft, that motor is smallish for a 25 " boat i run a aveox 4 pole 3656 in a 21" vee and it could use a little more power

It works for my use in a "Granddaughter or friends to use FE" presently in a 25 inch but the hull has seen better days and I was thinking to do a quick swap out with a hull I got in the Swap Shop when I came across this compatibility issue.
