Help....ESC dead, brand new...

Brand new Sea King 180. It worked perfect one minute then its dead.

On this ESC I did remove the stock caps and replaced them with an ETTI cap board. I put the ESC in the boat, powered it up and it was perfect. I programmed my settings...perfect. Dry tested it....perfect.

Now I am just getting ready to throw the boat in the water. I power the ESC up and nothing. I get the big pop and spark when I plug the battery in but no beeps from the motor and throttle response at all.

I checked the obvious and couldn't find anything.

Any ideas?

Hmm.....
I had to ask anyways:
Is the polarity right connecting the cap board?
Install your old caps and see....

Yes, polarity is correct. As I said it worked perfect on the bench, after the cap board installation. It worked perfect many times during testing. It just decided to not work when I was going to water test.

Are you using the internal BEC? Did you pull the red wire off the Rx connector?

Pulled the red wire, using a RX pack.

It worked perfect during multiple bench tests.

No puff, no smoke, no burn marks, no burn small....just decided not to work after it worked perfect.

I guess its just a bad unit.

I have had this happen

I use my Tactic transmitter for several boats
some need the throttle servo reversed some don't

If I don't have it set to the proper direction
I either get a warning set of beeps or no beeps at all.

Sure hope it's something this simple.

If you dont get it working, hopefully you got it from Steven..............he can sure help warranty it alot easier then HK.............at alot less $$ and time to you.

I thought about everything like throttle reverse but like I said. It worked numerous times, I had it in the boat and everything put together and neat. It was working.

Then about an hour later I was going to put the boat in the water. I plugged the batteries in and nothing.

Unfortunately even if I did get it from Steven I think warranty would be out since I removed the stock caps and installed an Etti cap board.

I had 2 more ESC's so I just moved the cap board and my custom cooling to another ESC and it works.

What are ya gonna do...thats how this one went.
