    Twin cat questions???

Hey guys just finished up my twin 32 inch fighter cat build and am curious on the output shafts. I noticed they are both right hand threads. Am I going to have issues with my prop nut backing off on my clockwise running motor? If so could I use lock collors instead of nuts? Any of you guys that use this size stinger 4mm what do I need to do to use 3/16 cable with it, I know you can buy reverse flex cable but are the shafts ose sells reverse threads. Do they come with nuts? Sorry they dont go into that much detail on the listing. Was also thinking wire drive but unsure whether it will hold up under a 6s load but then the same issue with clockwise threads. Any help or advise here. I know there are several of you that have built twin cats of similar size hoping you chime in. Thanks, Duane

Dont worry about the threads on the clockwise turning motor. It wont cause the nut to back off.I have 4mm stingers on my twin and use 4mm locknuts.I have a hot 4s set up in my twin and use .078 wires.A friend of mine used .078 wire in his single drive cat on 6s and has no problems with the wire because of the voltage.

Thanks Larry I was hoping to hear from you I read your build awhile back but forgot where I found it and forot your name. Didnt you go to a 3/16 shaft with 4mm stingers? If so can you refresh me on how you did it I can see using this brass spacer for the props getting old fast. Thanks again for the help brother.

I still retain the 4mm stub shafts. Most of my props for my silver twin are for a 4mm stub,so Im sticking with 4mm.When I run 3/16 bore props,I use prop adapters made from 3/16 brass tube.Ive never converted a stinger or strut to 3/16,but have heard its easy to do.You do have to get 3/16 strut bushings and I think you have to bore the stinger out a little to make it fit.Hopefully someone else here will chime in and let us know how to do it right.

I used 7/32 stuffing tube on mine so I can use .150 flexes in the future if I wanted. My S.T. only has a slight bend in it and I use teflon for .130 flex with the wires. They dont flop around.Id say your stuffing tube would be fine with the wire drives.

I converted all my 4mm stingers to 3/16. Use a NEW 1/4" bit and drill into the end of the stinger enough to either get teflon bushings in or a brass strut bushing. Depending on what you choose to use depends on how deep you need to dril it. Use oil while you drill as well.

When you say brass bushing im thinking the same bushings I used to make for my gas boats? Just brass tubing cut to length with whole drilled down the side for lube?

Yup, but step it, main tubing is 7/32 w/ the last 1/8" or so being 1/4".

                      like this

I actually use that exact bushing in one of the stingers and not the strut its next to.

Good deal thats the exact picture I had in my head same I use to make for my gas boats. Thanks for yalls help. Now im looking at these 5000mah 3 cell lipos ive got velcroed in and am thinking mabe I should fashion some type of strap over them. Do yal think industrial velcro on the hull and bottom of the packs is enough to hold them if the cat blows off? Thinking maybe I should glass some type of hooks down in the sponsons to run a strap through. Am i overthinking this stuff. Im just picturing the cat blowing off at speed and the tips of the sponsons catching the water after a flip and the lipos and all my electrics punching through my hatch. Man I hat being a worrier!

strap strap strap. Cant say it enough. Velcro will not hold well in the majority of blow overs.. especially above 40.

Its nice that your worrying.. obviously you have knowledge and common sense of what "could" happen. And if it could happen, why not try to engineer it so it cant. Kudos to you for being a worrier
