You're not way off..............i think a 447 may be a bit much though..........maybe a 445 for a 1521. I'm not sure if a 1521 can get that boat to 60........................i have been wrong before.........NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? For what its worth I tried a 1521 in a 36" hull and it ran hot, traded it out for a 1527 and it runs faster and cooler.Team Liquid DashComment

Those Spartans are pretty light though, I think you will be damn close with the setup you got and i too think that motor will have no problem at all spinning the 447 prop.............................................. .................................................b ut she will tear that bought up i'm sure. I had to talk a guy at the hobbyshop out of buying a spartan the other day he was trying to choose between the spartan and the geico and leaning towards the spartan and i was like..................................dont do it man.lol too bad there a great looking boat, but what were they thinking, plastic?? come onComment

Does the OP want a reliable setup that he can move into a better hull in the future? A proven 60 mph combo for monos in that size range is a Neu 1527/1Y, 6S and an x455. Runs very strong and makes the full mile and more on the 1/6th mile course. The 1521 motors are too small for the kind of power needed for 60 mph if reliability is a requirement. And 47mm props are too small for peak efficiency in a hull that size.

Marky C, Have you seen this RC calculator page here on OSE?
It is handy for a few things, including getting a rough estimate on top speed with a given prop and RPM.

Skeptics
Just bought a Spartan, and I’ve been reading statements from skeptics in this forum that lead me to believe plastics isn’t the best choice for a boat.???
I’m curious, have any of the skeptics work R&D at Traxxas? I’m no genius but I’m guessing Traxxas isn’t going to jeopardize their brand by marketing a bunch of garbage. Thoughts?
Run it like you stole it~
