    proboat 1/8 scale. need someones opinion!

    howdy people of ose,

    ok im just going to get to the point.

    i have a 1/8 scale hydro from proboat which im converting to electric.

    the motor i have is

    leopard
    max amps: 78a
    lipo cell: 5-10s
    max power: 5500w
    kv(rpm/volt:1000kv
    resistance: 0.0073
    non-load current (7.4v): 3A

    heres the link just in case http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-lbp5692-4d-1000kv.html

    the esc i have is turnigy monster 2000 200amp.

    my question is, what batteries would one choose for this setup?

    If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2?

    At 1000KV, I'd go with 10S but watch the temps. That may be on the top edge for that motor even though it says you can use it with 10S.

      1000Kv is pretty high for 10S. No load 30,000rpm. Don't know anything about the leopards to be able to advise.

              You'll need four 5S 5000's. Two in parallel for 10000mAh and then series for 37V.

              10S = 37V x 1000KV = 37,000rpm

              8S = 29.6V x 1000KV = 29,600rpm

              Remember, that is NO LOAD 30K. You'll never hit 30K under a load. I still say 10S

                Are you figuring the 37v by taking a voltage "dip" into consideration.......... 4.2v x 10s = 42,000 rpms. I dont think a lipo dips all the way to 3.7v which is complete depletion when resting................would it...........??

                        no wayy really? so why do some people have expensive components yet run 20c lipos? well in that case im getting 40c. man, im totally clueless about this stuff. i have to study about lipos.

                            Lipos only stay at 4.2V for about 15 seconds then go down to 3.7V and stay there until they hit cutoff. Why do you think they call a 3S pack 11.1V instead of 12.6V? Hmmmm?

                              what are you considering expensive eletronics? probably ok to have a blackjack or sv27 on 20c lipos but when your talking about pushing a boats to it limits the weakest link is usaully evident when u look at price
