        Caps do fail.
Friend of mine lost his UL-1 ESC on stock set up.
Replaced his cap on dead esc and it worked again.
That is why new UL-1 esc now has upgraded cap:
        http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...od=dh-aqum7011
Some of the esc's like proboat BJ-26, formula fastech or ms. geico esc's are very well made and you do not need to install upgrade caps but they do fail sometimes.
ESC cap mod is one of the things we do when we walk away from stock set up.
That is why Steve sales this:
        http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...d=etti-e035-lv
        and this:
        http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=etti-e041
If you get rtr boat and run stock set up you have no worries. But with simple swich from NMh to liPo the first think I would do is to add caps to esc.
Prop upgrade, LiPo C rating upgrade, S rating upgrade etc. This will all increase the ammount of work ESc will need to do so concider.....
I hope I did your homework well enough...

Robert,so generally speaking, this Etti capacitor board that Steves sells is suited to fit any esc at all or just some specific ones depending on amps?.....Would like one for a Suppo esc i bought from Fightercat.
I also have a BJ26 Proboat esc that stopped working(thats why i bought yours afterwards,so don`t worry....lol).If capacitors go bad do they all explode or deform?...and then esc stops working?....mine seems ok but gonna check closely now that i read your thread.Thanks,.....Albert

Virtually this capacitor board can be used with any ESC.
On your ProBoat esc just add capacitor or two and try to see if you get it to work again. You do not need to remove the old one. If its dead its dead. Not sure if they explode when they go bad but they puff the top and just fail.
If there is one cap and its bad than yes, ESC will not work.

You can solder them to the battery leads close to the ESC.

You do not have to remove the old one. Its just there, not working.
New caps if you get them individually you will connect longer leg of the cap which is PLUS to red battery wire of your ESC and shorther to black NEGATIVE battery wire of your ESC....

I mod mine this way. similar to "Lipo Power"'s mod but is more compact and feels sturdy.

I attached 2 caps just a few mm from the + and - tabs on the board, to the wires. I don't like putting heat to the board to re solder anything. Also, the way you guys attached them seems like you're relying on the presoldered caps to hold the ones you added in place. Seems like they would all just break off at 1 point.

I do like the way you got that done. Clean, simple. Looks like it came that way from Hobby City!
