Running Lipo with an ESC set for Ni-MH...what can happen?

I just picked up a Blackjack 26 electric, my first boat. We have helis, planes, and cars/trucks, but no boats--until now. Anyway I assume it has the default programming for Ni-MH, and you can't change it or even find out what it's programmed for without a programmer card. Which I don't have, and I also don't have any Ni-MH batteries. I would really like to run it this weekend when we're at our marina. Is there anything in the programming besides the low voltage cut-off? Could I smoke something just by having it on the wrong battery type? I have voltage monitors with alarms which I can put in there to keep an eye on voltage, so I don't over-discharge the batteries.

Everything is stock and I have 7.4v 5aH LiPo batteries from our trucks.

should be okay if you watch voltage and keep your runs short

All lipo mode on the BJ esc does is turn on the LVC. Just no your esc is not protecting your lipos.

That's what I figured, even though the manual says it will damage your electronics and battery. Off to the closes water shortly.
